JEFFREY B. McCARRON is the chair of the professional liability group of Swartz Campbell LLC, and is a Board Certified Professional Liability Attorney by the American Board of Professional Liability Attorneys, as well as a Board Certified Civil Trial Advocate by the National Board of Trial Advocacy. Martinedale-Hubble has given him a AV rating (the highest available). He is also a member of the firm’s management committee.
For more than a decade, Mr. McCarron has dedicated his practice to the representation of professionals in litigation and developed a group which concentrates on the specialized handling of professional liability litigation matters. The matters involve representation of lawyers, accountants, appraisers, real estate agents/brokers, insurance agents/brokers, officers and directors, architects and engineers, securities dealers, and title agents/insurers. He is licensed to practice in New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
Mr. McCarron is a member of the Philadelphia Bar Association, in which he serves on the State Civil Committee, Professional Responsibility Committee and from 2001- 2002 he was the chair of the Mid-Size Law Firm Committee. As a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association, he served as the Vice Chair of the Professional Liability Committee from 1997 to 1998, and then again from 2001 to present. He is a member of the American Bar Associations Committee on Professional Liability Litigation and Committee on Ethics and Professionalism. He is also a member of the Philadelphia Association of Defense Counsel, Brehon Law Society, Tau Epsilon Rho Law Society, Association of Professional Responsibility Lawyers and the Professional Liability Underwriters Society.
Mr. McCarron has handled hundreds of trials, and he is a frequent lecturer and writer concerning professional liability issues, risk management for professionals, and litigation techniques and practice. He has been a panelist at the ABA National Legal Malpractice Conference, a presenter for the Pennsylvania Bar Institute (“Avoiding Malpractice in Auto Cases”) and a speaker for the Pennsylvania Trial Lawyers Association (“Why Plaintiffs Lawyers Get Sued”).
Mr. McCarron joined Swartz Campbell in 1990 as an associate in the professional liability group. He came to us from the Defender Association of Philadelphia, where for three years he represented accused criminals in major jury and non-jury trails and other proceedings. He attended Hampshire College in Amherst, MA, gaining his Bachelor of Science in Biology. He earned his J.D. from Temple University School of Law in 1987. He was on the Dean’s Honor List from the fall of 1984 through the fall of 1986.
Mr. McCarron was recently named a Top 100 Philadelphia and Top 100 Pennsylvania lawyer.
