Ethics Attorney Disbarred

/ 14.Apr, 2014

A Houston attorney with a practice concentrating on ethics complaints and licensing issues for lawyers and doctors has been disbarred.  Robert S. Bennett of Houston faced a three day trial on disciplinary charges which arose after he did not return a disputed fee after an order by a Fee Dispute Committee.  Bennett was accused of stringing out litigation after the fee dispute award, and was ordered to pay $27,500 in restitution by May 1, this is the same amount the Fee Dispute Committee ordered he pay on January 3, 2012.  This case reinforces the old truism that fee disputes and professional liability claims are inextricably linked.
