We have been following the saga of Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas Judge Thomas M. Nocella (here, here, and here) since disciplinary charges were filed against him last year. Nocella has now been banned from the bench for life (the use of banned for life may be a little over dramatic as Nocella is very near the mandatory retirement age [President Judge McGinley dissented, and recommended suspension on half pay for four months and probation until retirement]). Ironically, Nocella was first placed on the bench to replace Deborah Griffin who was banned from serving as judge due to a prior conviction for utilizing a false Social Security number on credit applications.
